Shediac Day Trip Itinerary | What To Do And Where To Go

We all know that Shediac is one of my favourite places in New Brunswick! If you’ve never been, Shediac is a charming seaside town that is known for its sandy beaches, delicious seafood, and warm Acadian hospitality. If you're planning a visit to Shediac and only have one day to explore, don't worry! You can still experience the best that this town has to offer. Here's a one-day itinerary that will help you make the most of your time in Shediac.

Morning

Start your day by lining up outside La Boulangerie Shediac Bakery for their famous sticky buns and baked goods! You HAVE to get there early if you want to snag some!

After that, head to the famous Giant Lobster Statue, which is located on the main street. We affectionately call this guy “the big lobster”, and it’s a must-see attraction and popular photo spot for tourists. Take a picture with the lobster and grab a coffee or breakfast from one of the nearby cafes. We also love to browse the souvenir shops at the big lobster to get our annual Shediac Christmas ornament and other fun vacation finds.

On Sundays, don’t forget to check out the local market!

After breakfast, head to the Parlee Beach Provincial Park. This stunning beach is one of the most popular attractions in the area and offers a long stretch of golden sand and crystal-clear water. Take a dip in the ocean, soak up the sun, or go for a walk along the beach.

Midday

Once you've had your fill of the beach, head to Shediac Bay Cruises for a scenic boat tour of the area. The cruise will take you through the Shediac Bay, where you can spot seals, seabirds, and even whales if you're lucky! The tour lasts for about an hour, and it's a great way to see the beauty of the area from a different perspective.

The Shediac Bay Cruise Boat has been a summer tradition of ours for years, and we still try to book a tour every year.

After your cruise, it's time for lunch! The boat will drop you off right in front of Captain Dans and The Sandbar on the wharf! We love both of these seaside restaurants, and you can’t go wrong with either one! During a storm last year, The Sandbar did sustain some damage, so check out their Facebook page for more info on opening dates, etc.

Afternoon

After lunch, take a stroll through the downtown area and explore some of the local shops and boutiques. Shediac is known for its arts and crafts scene, so you're sure to find some unique souvenirs to take home with you. If you’re interested in antiquing, our favourite spot is Nadine’s Closet in Grande Digue! It’s a short drive from Shediac, and she always has the most amazing treasures! If history is your thing, check out the Shediac Old Train Station Museum!

Evening

For dinner, head back to downtown Shediac and choose from one of the many seafood restaurants in the area, or back to the wharf to enjoy Captain Dans or The Sandbar! After dinner, stay at Pointe Du Chene for ice cream and the best sunset! Take a walk along the wharf, watch the boats come and go, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

On the weekend, head to the Neptune Drive-In for a movie!

Shediac may be a small town, but there's plenty to see and do. With this one-day itinerary, you can experience the best that the town has to offer, from its stunning beaches to its delicious seafood. Whether you're traveling solo or with a group, Shediac is a great destination for a day trip.
