Diary | January 2020 Recap

January, the bottomless cup of the year has finally ended! Spring feels closer than ever, which is amazing because I desperately need some sun and warmth.

It’s funny how January always feels like the perfect time for a fresh start. Like, nobody decides in the middle of September to set resolutions or decide to change their lives.

When looking back over the last year, I realized that I did not read one single novel! Not one. I started several but never got very far into them. This year I WILL read books. I love books and I buy them often, but this year I’m going to actually read them. I would love to start doing book reviews more often for the blog, so that goal is on my list also. Mason has been learning to read lately (and doing SO well with it!), so I read a lot with him, but I think it’s important for him to see me reading my own books as well.

This year, I really just want to simplify and not over think. I want to just drink lots of water and read lots of books, walk the dog a lot and just enjoy each day.

My word for January was “routine”. Instead of a word of the year, I decided on a word for each month. We hired a new housekeeper this month and she’s amazing, we started figuring out a routine for meal planning, and we worked on a new bedtime routine for Mason that limits screen time and has him going to bed sooner! I also started a new gym routine (my new Fitbit has been super great for motivation!), and I’ve been drinking my water and just feeling better overall.

My vibe for this year is “just get it done”. I can’t sit around wishing for things to change without actually changing them. This applies to my blog, my business, my health, my parenting techniques, etc. I no longer feel the mental block I felt before that was keeping me from doing so many things I needed to do.

If there is anything in your life you need to do, I hope you can just get it done too.
