5 Reasons To Add More Stripes To Your Summer Wardrobe

It’s no secret that I love wearing stripes. There is no other print as near and dear to my heart. As you can see in the photo above, I’ve added quite a few striped pieces into my wardrobe in the last couple of years. I truly believe it’s a classic staple that looks good on everyone.

Here are 5 reasons to add more stripes to your Summer wardrobe:

It’s A timeless Classic

I was at my nan’s house for Easter dinner this weekend, and she was wearing a navy and white striped blouse. I mentioned to her how I have a few blouses that are similar, and that she looked great. She laughed and said “Oh this old thing!?” and told me she bought it years ago. Stripes are truly a classic print that never go out of style.

You can dress them up or down

IMO, a striped blouse is a staple that every blouse wearing person should have in their wardrobe. There are SO many ways to style them! You can wear them tucked into pants for a dressy look, unbottoned over shorts and a cami/bodysuit, oversized as a beach coverup, knotted for a vintage look, etc. A striped dress can also be dressed up or down depending on accessories.

It’s the epitome of summer

I live on the East Coast of Canada, but when I think of stripes, I think of a classic New England Summer. It’s weekends on Nantucket, or brunch by the water in Kennebunkport. We have a lot of beautiful coastal towns in The Maritimes and we haven’t quite taken on that same preppy East Coast vibe- BUT stripes give a fun nautical vibe no matter where you live. It’s truly my favourite aesthetic, and I aim to incorporate it into my wardrobe more this Summer.

It’s the perfect neutral

You may not think of any print as a “neutral”, but hear me out. Stripes are the neutrals of prints becuase they pair SO well with most colours and patterns. Guarenteed if you add some stripes to your wardrobe, they will pair well with a lot of items you already own.

It’s a great “gateway” print

If you aren’t used to wearing prints, but want to ease into some options, stripes are a great place to start. A super fine pinstripe will look like a solid colour from far away, but add really great dimension to your outfit.
