Boudoir Q&A With Ashley Marie Creative Studios!

As you may have seen, I recently did a boudoir session with Ashley Marie Creative Studios! After I posted my session, I began to get a lot of questions from other women who are interested in getting their own session done.

I sat down with Ashley to get the answers to some of the TOP boudoir questions you may have!

Q & A

1- I’ve never done this before, and I’m nervous about how to pose. From experiences with other photographers, I’m worried I won’t look flattering. Will you help with posing?

I will help you throughout the entire process. In today’s society, a women's perspective of herself is very delicate, so before even offering to do boudoir session, I researched different body types, flattering posing, took online courses to fully prepare offering this service. I mean, it isn’t every day that you run around in your nickers in front of strangers, which is an overwhelming thought on its own, so you do not need to worry -From positioning, angles and lighting - I have you covered!

2- Is the session private, or will there be other people there? For example, if other girls are waiting to get photos done that day, will they see me getting my photos done?

Boudoir sessions are private. The only people in the room as we do your session is me and you!

3- What do I wear, and what should I bring with me to the shoot?

Pick outfits that highlight your assets. Women are shaped differently and different body types have elements that stand out - Highlight these. Pick outfits that fit!! Don’t worry about the size on the outfit because no one sees them anyway. Nothing makes you look worse than wear clothes that are too small for you at any size, not to mention, you’ll feel uncomfortable. You determine what is sexy to you - it can be full lingerie, your regular bra and panties, or panties and a soft sweater - choose something that represent you and makes you feel comfy and beautiful that fits properly!

4- Do you have experience / are you comfortable shooting different body types?

Almost every woman has a different shape, which is fun! There are poses you use for some women that you wouldn’t use for another. I have researched and have experience shooting many different women. If you have concerns - bring it up during the booking process and talk about it with me so we can eliminate that anxiety prior to your session.

5- What is your boudoir photography style?

I would say my style is clean and elegant. I am not into raunchy or over sexualized photos. I want my subject to feel beautiful in her own skin.

6- Will you be sharing my photos on social media?

With Boudoir sessions, the only time I share photos is if the client gives me permission or I have someone actually model for me for the purpose of sharing to show women my style and what I can do! It helps others feel comfortable by seeing what they can look like in their photos!

7- Do you retouch the final photos?

Re-touching is included. If you have any specific insecurities that you’d like address in the purpose of re-touching, this is something I suggest we discuss prior to.

8- I’m older, weigh more etc than most girls I see doing doing boudoir- can I still book a session?

Any body is a boudoir body! Age and weight does not define beauty. If this is something you want to do - DO IT! Every woman deserves to feel beautiful in her own skin, and as I’ve said before, no woman’s body is the same and that should be celebrated, not something that holds us back. The world would be a boring place if we were all to look, act and be alike. Celebrate YOUR beauty, because you should be doing this for yourself, and not for the rest of world.
